In 1921, two Scots-Americans, Harry Cameron and Jim Abercrombie set up business together in Houston, Texas and co-founded Cameron Iron works. In 1964, they decided to set up a Forging operation in the UK and they choose Livingston in Scotland as their destination. In 1966, the site was completed having cost £12m to build and equip, and it now housed the famous 30,000 ton press.
In 1991, Cameron Iron Works was bought by Cooper Industries which split the business and transferred a proportion of it to France. The Forged products division remained strong in Livingston and consequently was bought over by Wyman Gordon Ltd, in 1994. Shortly after, at the end of 1999 Wyman Gordon, was bought by Precision Castparts Corporation
